Moore, OK - This past Saturday (July 29), the final episode of Major League Fishing’s 2017 General Tire World Championship from Nacogdoches, Texas aired on CBS.  The hour-long championship program was the conclusion of what MLF officials called in a January, 2017 press release, “The largest and first-ever consecutive six-week bass fishing series to run on national broadcast television…”

The inaugural General Tire World Championship included the top 12 MLF anglers based on the points they accumulated in 2016 and 2017 Cup events.   Qualifying anglers included Edwin Evers, Kevin VanDam, Greg Hackney, Bobby Lane, Aaron Martens, Gary Klein, Andy Montgomery, Mike Iaconelli, Mark Davis, Boyd Duckett, Mike McClelland, and Jeff Kriet.

In the championship round, Florida’s Bobby Lane bested Mark Davis, Jeff Kriet, and Kevin VanDam to become the first ever MLF World Champion.

THE BASS ZONE caught up with Lane shortly after the championship round aired on CBS to get his thoughts on what it’s like to add the MLF title to his already impressive career that includes two FLW Costa FLW Series wins, an Elite Series victory, and 10 Bassmaster Classic qualifications:
