Bella Vista, AR – Many people have speculated that since the Genmar bankruptcy, Mike McClelland will be changing boat companies for the 2010 season. The Arkansas pro announced that at this time, he is remaining with Champion.
Here’s what he told The BASS ZONE:
“It’s definitely not true at this point that I’m leaving the brand. I have remained loyal throughout the entire bankruptcy portion of this and I’m waiting for the official announcement to come from Platinum about what is going on before I make my decision to change brands.
“I have had conversations with the president of Champion Boats and the Brand Manager of Champion Boats but there isn’t any clear definition of what is going on right now. I have a strong desire to stay in the brand. I just hope that I have the opportunity to remain in a Champion as the tournament year goes on.
“I will definitely be in my Champion through the Classic. To be honest, I am starting to explore some options just to see what the possibilities are.
“For my boat wrap at the Classic, Falcon will remain as a primary portion on the wrap as well as Mustang Survival. As it stands right now, I’m working on a non-endemic sponsor that is starting to show some potential. Hopefully I’ll be able to announce that in the next few days.”
