Jasper,
Tx. – Yamaha Motor Corporation and
BASS announced Tuesday afternoon that Kennesaw, Ga.-based Yamaha has joined BASS as an Official Engine sponsor of the organization and its prestigious tournament structure.
Skeeter Products, Inc., manufacturer of Skeeter brand high performance boats, will become the Official Boat Sponsor of BASS.
Skeeter, and it’s parent company, Yamaha Motor Corporation, will take a proactive and industry-leading role as sponsors, including sponsorship of the Bassmaster Tour, Elite Series, Open events, BASS Federation Nation, Women’s Bassmaster Tour, as well as bass fishing’s world championship, the Bassmaster Classic.
Yamaha and Skeeter will also sponsor the six BASS Federation Nation Divisionals and Federation Nation Championship, with additional commitment to BASS’ youth initiatives: the Bassmaster CastingKids Championship and the Junior Bassmaster World Championship.
“By becoming a sponsor of BASS, Yamaha promotes its brand and supports boating and fishing, which are activities we truly believe in,” said Ben Speciale, vice president, operations and planning for Yamaha Marine Group. “Reliability and innovation are at the core of the Yamaha brand and the demands of competition have taught us how to make our outboards even better.”

“Becoming a business partner with BASS brings a major addition to our long list of sponsorships, and we are pleased to become the Official Boat Sponsor of BASS,” says Jeff Stone, Skeeter’s Senior Vice President and General Manager.
“This is a great way for Skeeter to kick-off its 60th Anniversary, and both Skeeter and BASS share a rich heritage in the bass fishing industry. It is only fitting that we combine our passion for the sport to embrace and further enhance the success and growth of tournament fishing,” says Stone.
Stone added that this sponsorship adds even more momentum to the growth of the Skeeter brand. “One of our objectives is to provide support at all levels of competitive angling in order to increase opportunities for our owners, as well as our dealers,” he continued. “Skeeter has always taken a grassroots approach to its tournament outreach, and with the many levels of competitive fishing provided by BASS, we will be able to further accomplish this objective,” says Stone.
“When Skeeter’s founder, Holmes Thurmond, built the first Skeeter bass boat in his garage in 1948, he was fulfilling a personal need for bass fishing, and I’m sure he did not realize that his idea would be the start of one of America’s favorite pastimes,” says Stone.
Tom Ricks, General Manager of BASS, says Skeeter’s sponsorship of BASS activities will bring new attention to the sport.
“We are very excited to have Skeeter on-board as a sponsor,” says Ricks. “Skeeter is a leader in the industry, and this sponsorship shows their commitment helping our organization grow the sport of bass fishing. Skeeter has a long heritage of supporting bass anglers, and we look forward to our future success as industry partners,” says Ricks.
“We applaud Yamaha’s loyalty to its anglers and devotion to growing the sport,” said
Ricks.
