Silver Springs, Md. – The fishing drug is addictive, especially for tournament anglers, and Darrin Schwenkbeck is no different.

Schwenkbeck missed automatic requalification for the 2008 Elite Series when he finished the ’07 season in 98th place, and his last chance fell short with a 16th place finish at the Bassmaster Wildcard tournament in November at Lake Okeechobee.

Schwenkbeck told The BASS ZONE that he is going to compete on the BASS Southern Opens and the FLW Series BP Eastern Division in 2008. “My goal for the year is to qualify for both the Elites and the FLW Tour,” Schwenkbeck said. “I feel really confident that I can accomplish that goal.”

Along with the two main circuits, he said that he would likely cherry pick some of the Stren Series events in his region, along with some specialty events. “I’m going to fish a few more charity events this year, I’m looking forward to that.”

As far as support, Schwenkbeck said that he is still working with one of his main sponsors from last year. “I will be running an Amsoil wrapped boat this year,” he said. “But, there are a couple of other things in the works, that I’m not yet ready to release.”
