PROBASSANGLERS.COM PERSON OF THE YEAR - MARK JEFFREYS
"Staff, Viewers, The Legend and Pros Make It Happen."

Story by Dan O'Sullivan

Norman, Okla. – Mark Jeffreys and his staff at BASS ZONE .com have set a standard for independent on location coverage of the sport of professional bass fishing, and another standalone media outlet has recognized his efforts and effect on the sport.

On Christmas Eve, ProBassAnglers.com named Jeffreys its 2007 Probassanglers .com Person of the Year.

It is the third year for the annual award, and the previous recipients have been professional angler and past Professional Anglers Association President Kevin VanDam, and Gary Lebing, founder and operator of one of bass fishing’s largest online communities; The Bass Fishing Homepage.

Jeffreys was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the announcement. “It is an honor to have been named The ProBassAnglers.com Person of the Year,” Jeffreys said from The BASS ZONE Offices in Norman, Okla. “The award It is not really about me though.  It is about the BZ staff, the viewers and the pros.”

“The thing I am most proud of is that it rewards the effort the whole staff of BASS ZONE .com has put forth,” he said.

“We are a group of passionate people committed to serving the sport, its pros, viewers and industry; this award reflects on our commitment.  Besides, how many people get a chance to work with The Legend, Harold Allen?”

Probassanglers.com founder Keith Nighswonger said that the communication he received from his readers made the final decision. “Our regular readers weighed in, and Jeffreys was the topic of the majority of the communication,” said Nighswonger. “Mark and his staff do a great job of being what I call an ‘imbedded’ media service in the middle of the action, and it provides us all a more complete picture of the happenings at these events.”

His commitment to the sport is evident, and he is a worthy recipient of The ProBassAnglers.com Person of the Year Award,” Nighswonger concluded.
