Ardmore, Okla. – While many of his Elite Series counterparts are fishing the first BASS Southern Open at the St. John’s River in Palatka, Fla. Jeff Kriet was busy in his shop organizing his shipment of new baits from two new sponsors; Big Bite Baits and Sebile Lures.

Kriet called The BASS ZONE to announce the addition of two new sponsors to his support team, and he was understandably excited about the announcement. “I am really happy about being a part of the Big Bite and Sebile fishing teams,” Kriet said. “I love fishing soft plastics and throwing hard-baits, so these product lines are perfectly suited to my style of fishing.”

Big Bite Baits of Eufala, Ala. is a 10-year-old company that manufactures a full line of soft plastic lures and has recently introduced a new line of biodegradable soft baits called Bio Baits to go along with their regular offerings.

Sebile is a multinational lure brand based in Abilene, Tex. was founded by a French angler and lure designer named Patrick Sebile. Sebile’s lures are designed around his fishing experiences in 56 countries that have netted him 26 IGFA records.

“I am in the process of working on a new creature bait with Big Bite,” Kriet told The BASS ZONE. “I have already been smashing big fish on it in testing.” He said that he spent a day on Choke Canyon Reservoir near San Antonio, Tex. filming an episode of Mark Zona’s “World’s Greatest Fishing Show,” and during the filming he caught a 10-pound largemouth while Carolina rigging a prototype.

“The Bio Bait is different from other biodegradable soft baits in that it produces true colors and feels like traditional soft plastics without drying out,” Kriet explained. “They are also coming out with a swimbait that has great action, it’s too cold to catch fish on yet, but they swim great.”

He said that he thinks the Sebile Lures are going to be a major player for him in the Classic and going forward. “Their new square lipped crankbait is awesome, I’m going to win some money on it,” he said. “The bodies are filled with a liquid that gives them casting weight and motion that makes them look alive, I’m having a blast with them.”

Both brands will be prominently displayed on his Longhorn jersey, but said that his truck and Triton 20HP are already wrapped in his trademark Longhorn colors in preparation for the season. Longhorn has been really good to me, they are a great sponsor, and I am proud to fly their colors, and am grateful to be adding these brands to our team.”

Big Bite Baits’ Pro Staff Manager and Marketing Executive Clayton Batts said that they are thrilled to have Kriet on board. “Jeff is a great guy and a tremendous asset for us,” Batts told The BASS ZONE. “We’re very happy to be a part of his team and looking forward to being a major part of his future success.”

Sebile’s U.S. Sales and Marketing Director Keeton Eoff echoed the sentiments of Batts by saying that they recognized Kriet’s unique position in the sport. “Jeff has a lot of experience in the fishing industry; both in business and as an angler,” Eoff said. “He understands the characteristics of high level lures; he is a great guy and fits in very well with our family,”

One other piece of news out of Camp Kriet is that he is putting the final touches on a new 6’10” shaky head and dropshot rod with Castaway. “We’ve gone through dozens of versions over the past two years; I’m picky about my spinning rods,” he said. “But, when I got this one in my hands, I knew it was the one, I’ve probably won $225,000 on this rod, and I think people are going to really like it.”
