Zapata,
TX. – It is just another part of
making a living on the road. After
fishing the FLW Series Eastern Division stop on Wheeler Lake, Ish Monroe spent the night in a Birmingham hotel on his way to the upcoming Elite Series stop on Falcon Lake.
While driving the following day, the wheels came off for Ish, literally. About 50 miles south of San Antonio, one of the wheels on his trailer fell off leaving him stranded on the side of the highway. Sometime during the night in Birmingham, a thief had unsuccessfully attempted to steal the rims off of Ish’s trailer, leaving them loose.
Unable to find the lost wheel, Ish was stuck on the side of the road despite the help of fellow Elite Series anglers who stopped to help. Jared Lintner, Greg Gutierrez, Mike Wurm, Bill Lowen and KVD all stopped and attempted to help
Monroe.

"How
cool is that to have the guys you compete
against all the time, stop and help you
out," said Monroe. "Jared
and Greg were the first guys to stop and I
really appreciate their help and everyone
else that stopped to make sure everything
was fine. That is just the way it is
our here.......we always try to help each
other out on the road."
Eventually, Mike McCloskey, from the Ranger Boats Service Crew, was able to get Ish back on the road to Falcon. Fellow Elite Series pro, Britt Myers, who
owns CS Motorsports, is hooking Ish up with a new
tire and rim for his trailer and it should
be fixed by the time the Lake Amistad stop
rolls around.
"Mike
really was the man that got me going,"
said Ish. "I owe Mike a big
favor."
