As that new schedule is about to commence, Delong told The BASS ZONE that he has reached agreements with two new sponsors, and re-signed with three from last year.
“I signed a deal with Champion Boats last month, and will be running a 210 Elite with a Mercury 250 XS,” Delong said. “I have been running a Champion for the past few years, and am really excited to be joining their National Team.”
Don Wood, and Dave Barnett of Champion are also very pleased to have him on board. “Glenn has been a loyal Champion angler for several years, and we have always liked what we’ve seen from him,” they said. “He is a good person and a great angler, so this was the logical progression of our relationship; we are excited to have him on our team.” |
Delong has also reached an agreement with the Gorman-Rupp Company of Mansfield, Oh, the world’s largest manufacturer of electric pumps. Founded in 1933, Delong will be a part the campaign marking of their 75th anniversary with a ‘Win a Day on the Lake with Glenn Delong’ contest.
“My mom works at Gorman-Rupp, and the respect they have for their employees and customers is phenomenal,” Delong said. “I am really looking forward to working with them, and wearing their brand.”
Derek Jackson, Off the Shelf Program Manager for Gorman-Rupp said that the company was also thrilled to have Delong. “The ‘Win a Day on the Lake with Glenn Delong’ promotion is going to be a lot of fun,” Jackson said. “We are excited to have him as a part of our 75th Anniversary Celebration, and the winner of the contest is going to have one heck of a day on Lake Erie with one heck of an angler.”

Along with the addition of Champion and Gorman-Rupp Delong has also re-signed with Pure Fishing Brands, Abu Garcia, Berkley Trilene and Berkley Gulp. “The Abu Revo is amazing, I can cast farther than I ever thought with that reel,” he said. “The Revo with Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon on my Powell Rods is the lightest, most sensitive combination I have ever used; they flat help me catch more fish.”
Delong also said that the Berkley Gulp Minnow has become his ‘go to’ drop shot bait. “I’ve proved it to myself many times, a Gulp Minnow on a drop shot rig will absolutely outperform other baits,” and I need that kind of confidence.”
He also said that he would be throwing all of his baits on Powell Rods again in 2008. “I first used Powell last year, and was amazed at how perfect the rods fit my style of fishing,” Delong said. “The actions, sensitivity and power are amazing for rods as light as they are.”
Delong will also remain connected to his title sponsor from last season; Jackson Geothermal. The has agreed to be a major part of his brand again this year. “Jim Jackson, and the Jackson Geothermal family have been such a blessing to me,” Delong said. “I could not have made it through last season without them, and am really pleased to be going into this year with them as well, it is an honor.”
