Texas – Team Skeeter’s Will Courtney was recently recognized as the BASS Federation Nation’s 2007 Conservation Director of the Year for his efforts and accomplishments as the Conservation Director for the Louisiana Bass Federation Nation.
Will, a member of the Cajun Outboards State Team, located in Addis, Louisiana, was presented with the award during the 2008 Bassmaster Classic in Greenville South Carolina by BASS Conservation Director, Chris Horton.
"Since the early 1970s, BASS, and its members, have taken a proactive approach to addressing the nation's vital aquatic resource issues, supporting angler access and ensuring a strong and healthy fish population," says Horton. "Federation Nation leaders like Will are largely responsible for our success in these areas and we appreciate his contributions."
Courtney, through his efforts as the LA Bass Federation Nation Conservation Director, has many accomplishments to his name, including: serving as Chairman of the design group for the Belle River Landing Project; coordinating volunteers for the Atchafalaya Basin restocking effort; working with the LA Department of Wildlife and Fisheries on protective 14-inch length limits for Hurricane Katrina affected zones; serving on the LA Hunting and Fishing Education Advisory Council; helping to draft legislation of the LA Bass Angler license plate program, benefiting Louisiana fish hatcheries; coordinating volunteers for bass releases in the Delacroix Island area; assisting in the establishment of the LA Freshwater Recreational Fishing Tack Force, and being appointed as a judge for the Governors Outstanding Conservation Awards by the LA Wildlife Federation and the LA Outdoors Writer’s Association.
