PAA ANNOUNCES DEAL WITH WFN
WFN Will Broadcast PAA Corporate Cup

Story by Pete Robbins

Las Vegas, NVDay Two of ICAST.

On the heels of their announcement about the “Corporate Cup” event to be held this fall in Florence, Alabama, the rapidly expanding Professional Anglers Association (www.fishpaa.com) used ICAST as a stage to announce the next step to leverage their members’ collective influence on the sport of bass fishing.

In conjunction with the World Fishing Network (www.wfn.tv), which bills itself as the world’s only 24/7 fishing TV channel, the PAA will produce and broadcast a 13 episode series in high definition which will air exclusively on WFN and WFN-HD in Canada and the United States. Additionally, WFN will broadcast a one hour special with highlights from the Corporate Cup.

“We’ll be the broadcast home for any and every PAA event,” said Corey Russell, Vice-President of Production and Marketing for WFN. The series will be a unique format that showcases the lives, the passion and the love that every angler has for the sport. We will follow PAA members on a daily basis showing every thing that happens down the road. It is the ultimate reality. The show will educate viewers, provide industry news, tips and techniques, and will allow viewers inside the lives of these professional athletes. It’s a personal look at their lives and WFN will be there every step of the way.

PAA Vice President Chad Morgenthaler said, “By partnering with WFN, the PAA can take an active role in building and shaping the future of this sport. “

Morgenthaler also called it a milestone for both entities, each of which is seeking to expand its reach. WFN, based in Canada, has only entered the US market in the last through months, through the Dish Network. He also said that he expects this partnership to provide new opportunities for corporate sponsors like Optima Batteries, which has signed on as the title sponsor of the Corporate Cup.

“We want to continue to keep doing things to promote the sport and explore any and all options that do that,” he added.

PAA Board Member Kelly Jordon stated that the Corporate Cup and the partnership with the WFN should allow the PAA to rapidly take their efforts to “another level. We’re trying to get both endemic and non-endemic sponsors and leverage what the PAA is in the sport. I expect (WFN’s) market to increase exponentially in the next few years
