BUSINESS TO BUSINESS FOR BRITT MEYERS

Gastonia, N.C. – Britt Myers has spent the past two seasons on the Bassmaster Elite Series chasing black bass from the bow of his Bass Cat. In two seasons on the Elite Series Myers has compiled slightly more than $100,000 in earnings; he has made his mark as an Elite angler.

The rest of the time, when Myers is not chasing green fish in hopes of achieving angling immortality, he is busy running a business that he started when he was 19-years-old. Myers is the owner of an automotive customization company named CS Motorsports, and he has made his mark on the rest of his Elite Series pros tow vehicles.

“I wanted a business that would enable me to make a living doing something I enjoy,” Myers told The BASS ZONE. “I opened Audio Excellence with a $5000 car title loan and around $400 in inventory. I started doing installs of audio components, and it has become a full automotive customization shop.”

The shop started out with himself and one part time employee doing installs and special orders, and is now a business with 14 employees and a full workload. “We did about 300 vehicle installs our first year,” Myers said. “We have seen an increase of more than 2000% since that first year, and Missy and I (Myers’ wife and business partner) couldn’t be happier.”

CS Motorsports has long been a sponsor of Elite Series pro, Jason Quinn, and it was Quinn who talked Myers into trying his hand at qualifying for the Elite Series. “Jason and I had fished team tournaments together for a while,” Myers said. “He talked me into giving the Opens a try, and I qualified to fish the Elites. My business and employees have allowed me to turn my hobby into a second career.”

In setting out on tour, Myers wrapped his boat with his business logo and the result has been increased visibility and it started with his Elite Series colleagues. “I set up my F-150 as my tow vehicle,” Myers said. “I was able to help several of my competitors in setting up their trucks with everything from navigation systems to full customizations.”

Among those Elite Series customers are 2007 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year Skeet Reese, Champions Choice winner, Timmy Horton and most recently, Ish Monroe. “I did a navigation system in Horton’s rig, set up Skeet’s H2 and just recently finished a total customization on Ish’s new Hummer H2,” Myers reported. “We work really hard to take care of anglers, and try to give them great prices and an installation that suits their needs, and style.”

Monroe recently told The BASS ZONE that he looked into having his H2 customized near his home in California, but Myers was so thorough and fair that he had no choice but to send his rig to North Carolina. “Britt saved me a bunch of money, even when I factor in shipping the rig to him,” Monroe said. “His installation was so unique; it is exactly what I wanted.”

Myers said that Monroe’s statements are exactly the response he wants to hear form all of his customers. ‘For the Elite Series anglers, it is all about making an impression, and their tow vehicles are a part of their individual branding,” Myers said. “Our staff understands what anglers need, and how they want to market themselves, and we work to make sure their vehicles match their vision.”

Myers has seen the greatest growth and improvement in the area of GPS Navigation systems for tow vehicles. “We have a new Pioneer system that has a stereo and navigation system built in that has been very popular,” Mayer reported. “We can install it for around $999; it has all of the functions and features of any of the best systems out there. To us, it’s about finding the best products for our customers, and our friends in tournament fishing are a priority.”
