JONES & SULLIVAN WIN AT GOT BASS AT LAKE TENKILLER
  16.32 Gets the Win

Cookson, OK--The GOT BASS Team Trail Tournament held its fourth event of 2007 on Lake Tenkiller on Sunday, July 22nd with the Nichols Marine, Minnkota, Booyah & Bear Productions Invitational.

At the conclusion of the day of fishing the team of Robert Jones and Casey Sullivan took home first place honors with a five fish limit tipping the scales at 16.32 pounds. Second place went to the team of Bob Harter and Richard Crain with a limit of bass weighing 14.98 pounds. Third place was Jason and Charles Christie with 14.66 pounds. The team of Larry Rea and Bob Baird brought 14.49 pounds to the scales to claim the fourth place spot. Rounding out the top five was the team of Chuck Lawless and Sam Newby with 14.20 pounds. Big Bass of the event was brought to the scales by the team of Mike and Bruce Sears which tipped the scales at 5.49 pounds.

We had the opportunity to catch up with the winning team after the weigh-in and here’s what they had to say. “We basically stayed in the mid lake area all day, concentrating our efforts on the 15 foot depth range. The big key today was the shade! Anywhere we could find the cover with a good amount of shade on it, there was a good bet that a fish was hiding down in it. We caught fish basically all day long, but ended up with about 7 over’s (16 inches or larger).” The pair also noted that they where throwing big worms for the balance of the day.

The second place team of Bob Harter and Richard Crain also had a good day on the water and we got a chance to catch them and ask them about there day. “On the five fish we weighed, we caught two largemouth on jigs, and three smallmouth on a Carolina rig. We had our limit by 9am this morning and began culling and ended up culling through two limits of fish. Throughout the day we actually left our fishing area and went across the lake to get ice twice today. Fish care is extremely important and you must take care of your catch”.

The third place team of Jason and Charles Crisite had 14.66 lbs and was also willing to tell us about their day on the water. “Well we stayed in the mid lake area today and actually only caught five keepers all day. We threw 10 inch Yum Ribbontail worms in 6 to 10 feet of water in and around brushpiles to manage our catch. We had four fish by 10am this morning and picked up or fifth fish right around noon and that was it.” Jason also wanted to thank his very generous sponsors for all that they do. “Ranger Boats, Mercury, Motorguide, Jimmy Houston Marine, BOOYAH, YUM, Rebel and Xcalibur.”

Big bass winners, Mike and Bruce Sears had this to say about their catch. “We were fishing in the mid lake area in over 15 feet of water with a jig, we just tossed it up onto this rocky point and the fight was on.”

We would like to thank all the competitors for the informative interviews and thank them for their time!
