WARWICK AND JONES WIN AT BROKEN BOW
12.37 Gets the First Win of the Year

The GOT BASS Team Trail Tournament held its first event of the year at beautiful Broken Bow Lake on Sunday, February 18th with the Barling Boat Sales, Bob’s Machine Shop & Carpet Cabin Invitational.

The competing anglers were greeted by warming weather on tournament day and many hoped that the change in the recent wintertime conditions might turn on the Broken Bow lunkers. Unfortunately, dropping water and postfrontal bluebird skies spelled tough fishing for the day, when just a handful of five-fish limits made it to the weigh-in stage.

However, at the conclusion of another season opening fishing day on Broken Bow the team of Brad Warwick and Brent Jones took the win, by weighing-in a five fish limit at 12.37 pounds. Their final weight barely nudged out the second place team of Allen Head and Gary Carrier. Allen and Gary weighed in a limit of bass at 12.34 pounds. Third place was Phillip Hudnall and Keith Conley with 12.14 pounds on four fish. The fourth place position went to Jason and Charlie Christie with four fish good for 12 pounds even. The top five was rounded out with Scott Hicks at 11.89 pounds on his limit of bass.

After collecting the first, first place check of the year the winning team agreed to provide the BASS ZONE viewers with a little information into their fishing day. Brad and Brent stated, “We were fishing down lake and basically found our fish in ten to fifteen foot of water. We spent all day dragging a jig extremely slow in the clear deep water. We only had six keepers but they ended up being the right ones we needed.”

The BASS ZONE would like to again congratulate Brad and Brent and wish them the best throughout the year.

We also caught up with Allen Head and Gary Carrier, the second place team and here’s what they had to say, “We spent our time down lake fishing a jig. We had six keepers and were able to cull in the last hour which really helped.” Allen and Gary are always a threat to win at Broken Bow, especially this early in the year, but the duo came up just short this time around. But, you can bet that you haven’t heard the last from these two guys this year.

Allen and Gary also wanted to thank their many sponsor’s for all that they do in supporting them and for the great products that they produce that help them catch fish! “Ranger Boats, Mercury Motors, Motorguide Trolling Motors, Premier Powersports, Jewel Jigs, Abu Garcia Hamby’s and Berkley Baits.”

Phillip Hudnall and Keith Conley, the third place team was also able to share bit of information with our readers about the day on the water. “We spent our day down lake pitching jigs at rock walls and dragging them back very slow. We only had four keepers and found them in a little small area about fifty yards long. We had one spot we caught two fish off of and we would hit it and leave and a while later come back to it. We caught fish off of it in practice and two during the tournament.”

The BASS ZONE would like to thank all the competitors for the interviews and thank them for their time!
