Kingston, OK – The Charger Fisherman’s Choice, LLC held their fourth regular season event on Lake Texoma this past weekend. 101 teams came out to compete against Mother Nature and each other. The water level on this Oklahoma/Texas impoundment was already at a high level and the torrential downfalls on Sunday kept the water rising.
In spite of the storms that passed through the area, 271 bass were brought in weighing an impressive 510 pounds. Of the 101 teams competing on Sunday, 35 brought limits to the scales. First place paid $3,575.00 and a total of $10,913.00 was given away after the weigh-in was completed.
The duo of Lee Armstrong and Johnny Kimbley took the top prize with a weight of 14.48 pounds. Their five fish limit also included the day’s biggest bass at impressive post-spawn weight of 5 pounds, 10 ounces. The Charger Team members walked away with $3,575.00 in hard earned money.
In second was the team of Keith Alcorn and Dave Ramsey. Keith and Dave netted a limit of Texoma bass that totaled 13.08 pounds and earned them $2,279.00 for the day. Coming in a close third was the team of Smith and Haden with 12.77 pounds worth $1,430.00 in prize money. Rounding out the top five were the teams of Leaf and Butler with 12.48 and Birdsong and Hitchcock with 11.75.
The team of Tim Harp and Tim Cline finished the day in 6th with 11.66. Their combined efforts throughout the year now have them atop the AOY standings with just one event left. The final regular season event will be held at Lake Eufaula on the 8th of July.

Armstrong and Kimbley Charge to the Top
Tournament day for most anglers begins when their number is called and ends once thaey idle past the check-in boat. For the select few who donate their time and energy to help run these events, their day begins well before the first truck and boat arrives and ends long after the other competitors have headed home. The team of Lee Armstrong and Johnny Kimbley are at every Charger event ensuring that the other competitors have an enjoyable day on the water. Yes they also fish, but that is often times secondary on their list of duties.
On Sunday however, Johnny and Lee handled all their other responsibilities and still found enough fish to win the Lake Texoma event. “We had one spot that we thought would hold fish this time of the year,” Johnny said. “Luckily, we had it to ourselves and we stayed there all day.” The pair was able to catch a limit early and began culling around 10 a.m.
“We didn’t pre-fish much and really just relied on one location,” Johnny continued. “It worked out this time and hopefully we can do it again in the Championship.”
The Charger Fisherman’s Choice, LLC will host one more regular season event and teams that qualify will be invited to the Championship to held September 8th and 9th right back here on Texoma.
The BASS ZONE staff would like to take this opportunity to wish Keith Alcorn and his family all the best as they continue to battle the illness that has stricken their daughter. Anyone interested in making a donation on behalf of the Alcorn’s please contact the Charger staff at their website.
